Iron Mountain Trail is a very popular San Diego County hiking trail between the city of Poway and the town of Ramona. This moderately difficult trail on private land that summits its namesake peak, Iron Mountain. The peak offers terrific 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape.

Driving Directions

The trailhead for Iron Mountain Trail is located at the intersection of CA 67 and Poway Road just to the east of downtown Poway. From downtown San Diego, take the I5 north to CA 56/Ted Williams Parkway. Head east on 56/Ted Williams Parkway for 12.5 miles. Turn right on Twin Peaks road, travel for 2.3 miles, then turn right onto Espola Road. Go 0.8 miles and turn left onto Poway Road. Travel 2.6 miles on Poway Road until it intersects with CA 67. The parking area will be directly across the road. Overflow parking is available on CA 67.
