New Poway Old Coach Trail bridge connects regions major trail networks
A newly rebuilt bridge on Poway’s Old Coach Trail connects key sections of the planned San Diego Trans-County Trail, which when completed will allow hikers, bikers and equestrians to travel by trail from Julian to the coast.
The bridge, which crosses Sycamore Creek and replaces one destroyed by flooding six years ago, links Dieguito River Park’s Coast to Crest Trail with the rest of Poway’s trail system and eventually the Trans-County Trail along Poway’s southern border.
The Old Coach Trail is about 4 miles long and is open to hiking, biking, and horseback riding. To reach the Coast to Crest Trail, take the Old Coach-Coast to Crest Trail Link east from the northern staging area and cross Highland Valley Road at the crossing signal.
