Two new hiking and mountain biking trails officially opened last week in Black Mountain Open Space Park near Rancho Peñasquitos in San Diego.
The Lilac Canyon and Ahwee trails, which total about one and a half miles in length, connect both sides of Black Mountain Open Space Park and Carmel Valley Road. The new trails are part of the Black Mountain Open Space Natural Resource Management Plan.
The trails were built by park staff and dozens of community volunteers, including teams from the San Diego Mountain Biking Association. Construction cost about $5000.
