In celebration of the first National Get Outdoors Day, entrance is free for visitors to all National Forests this Saturday, June 13.

National forests in SoCal include Angeles National Forest, Los Padres National Forest, San Bernadino National Forest and Cleveland National Forest.

National Get Outdoors Day is a new annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. The event is aimed at encouraging first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting American youth to the great outdoors.

Another program, called Every Kid in a Park, which will begin next fall, will allow families with fourth graders to receive a free annual pass to all U.S. national parks, forests and wildlife refuges and other national lands and waterways. The passes usually cost $80.
