The America West, its romance, beauty and vast spaces lure adventurous people from around the globe. In this short film by Katrin and Lars Schneider, the young German couple and their 8-month-old son Fietje escape the frigid German spring to explore the US Southwest for two months in a 1971 Westfalia camper van.

The pair, based on Hamburg, are professional adventure sports photographers, so this is not your typical vacation film shot with a cheap video camera. The film features National Parks like Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Valley of Fire, Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon, and the stunning footage they capture is an inspiration to get out and see the amazing landscape that’s so close to us here in SoCal.
