Corte Madera Mountain, with its imposing 300-foot plus rock face, is one of the most striking mountains in Southern California.
The mountain and surrounding landscape of Cleveland National Forest are rugged and a draw for adventurous hikers, climbers and off-road enthusiasts. Just getting to the mountain can be challenging requiring a four-wheel drive vehicle to drive to the base of the mountain or a 3.5 mile hike to the summit (these are two different approach routes).
The mountain has long been a destination for rock climbers, and offers one of the rare opportunities for multi-pitch climbing in SoCal. The rock precipice offers both traditional and bolted sport climbing routes.
